If anyone is wondering if the game will still be called Fat Princess at release… why, yes it will. And to those who don't – keep up the good work. The blog-o-spheric response was way over the top, pretty hilarious, and in the end showed that the overwhelmingly vast majority of people still have a sense of humor. And to be clear, there is no force feeding involved. If you bring her some from the Forest, she will savor every last crumb. Were you expecting that type of reaction? What's your response to it? Craig Leigh: The Princess loves some cake. IGN: When the game was announced, it caused a bit of chatter on the pop culture blog-o-sphere because more than a few people were offended by the title and gameplay that has you force feeding a princess until she's portly. The game is still the chaotic, action-packed melee everyone saw six months ago, but now it's better, bigger, more complete, and includes buckets of blood and gibs thrown in for good measure. All of the audio has been improved with several original compositions, humorous sound effects and voice recordings for the King, Princess and the player, which were created by some extremely talented and familiar voice actors. ![]() We've completed a quick and friendly match-making system, added detailed scoreboards and player rankings, and voice chat which allows for a lot more team cooperation within the game. The single-player story and game are up and running, and there are some awesome "Left 4 Dead" style arena challenges. We've created new mountain, volcano and island environments, which change up the gameplay entirely. There are new Castle upgrades that open up advanced character classes. IGN: What's changed since we last saw it? Have you added new classes, maps, features? Craig Leigh: Glad you asked! We've added a bunch of good stuff, taken away things that didn't work and refined the whole experience. ![]() At the moment, we're preparing for a private beta, and tweaking and testing the various character classes to ensure all the gameplay mechanics are balanced and ready for launch. As part of your eight- to 32-player team, you start with the opponent's princess in your castle and need to hold onto her for as long as possible. If somehow you missed the debut of what's sure to be one of 2009's big PlayStation Network downloads, Fat Princess is a sickly sweet-looking game of capture the flag where the flag is a princess.
